We grow 100% of our strawberries using a method called "annual plasticulture". It is the same system that is used in Florida and California modified for Ohio's climate. The strawberry plants are planted in late August and then harvested the following spring. The advantages are that we can start harvesting a few weeks earlier (mid May) compared to traditional methods. Also we end up with a much larger berry that is firmer and full of strawberry flavor. The consumer will notice a great shelf life and enhanced sugar content. The berries are sold retail through our garden center and farmers markets but the majority is sold through wholesale outlets.

We are a G.A.P (Good Agricultural Practices) certified farm through Primus Labs. This simply means that we are highly dedicated to providing the consumer with food that is as safe as possible. Each year we are inspected by a third party auditor provided by Primus. We focus on having good worker sanitation, clean bacteria free irrigation water, and proper record keeping. Many farms see this certification as too expensive and a bother but we feel obligated to our consumers to give them the highest quality possible. There are many misconceptions in the debate between Organic vs. Conventional. Today there is no longer a gap between these two systems. We are conventional growers due to the fact that Ohio's climate creates many challenges but we provide the freshest produce possible to Central Ohio. We proudly stand behind our produce. We also sell wholesale and retail.

We currently raise 60 acres of bi-color sweet corn.
We have found that the newer bi-color varieties give us the highest sugar content and shelf life. All of the varieties planted are classified as "
Triple Sweets". These new hybrids are superior to anything else on the market for size and taste. Sweet corn season typically starts around the 4th of July and lasts until after Labor Day.

This past season we had our first harvest of sweet cherries and were extremely delighted with the way they turned out. We raise both black (Bing types) and blush (Ranier types) sweet cherries. In the next few seasons we plan to keep expanding on our cherry acres. Harvest starts around the first week of June.

For the past ten years we have been raising fresh market red raspberries and thornless blackberries. Brambles can be a difficult crop to grow here in Ohio but we go the extra step to offer some amazing fruit. The past few years fresh raspberries and blackberries have been recognized as having some of the highest percentages of antioxidants. Red raspberries start in early June and continue until late September. Blackberries season typically starts in mid July and also ends in late September.

Our newest venture is growing brussel sprouts. In 2009 we had great success and our customers are pushing us to raise even more. This season we plan on planting over 15,000 brussel sprouts. Many people have a negative perception of brussel sprouts. We are trying to change this by offering varieties that are extremely mild and easy to prepare. Voted one of the "trendy foods" of 2009 we believe brussel sprouts are destine to make a comeback and talk about a healthy vegetable for your family!

Many off our fresh fruits and vegetables are available for home delivery through New Century CSA.
